EVENT RESEARCH

A hero team up spearheaded by Starbreaker and Neku have started doing some investigation into the music plague. This is the information they will recieve, when investigating possibly culprits. Other characters may reasonably come upon this information by their own means, but we do encourage you to help boost the existing effort!

Erishae: An A class supervillain with infamously potent enchantment based magic. Capable of illusions, conjuring, shapeshifting, and most notably, mind altering effects all the way from empathic manipulation to straight up mind control. No known civilian identities. Claims to be an immortal goddess. Probably lives in an evil castle somewhere. Has been causing a fuss here and there since before the formation of the Alpha Force. Most recently is suspected to be forming an alliance with TRIDENT for reasons unknown.

Pros: Pretty famous supervillain. Motivations are frequently based out of personal whimsy and the cultivation of aimless discord. Likely to be capable of this sort of effect.

Cons: Has never actually done any musical styled enchantment, so while it could be a new thing, there is no established precedent for it. Character suggests that she would have made a villainous monologue about this already.

Swansong: An unregistered hero with an unknown threat ranking, though it is estimated that she is C class. Was a part of the team Nightforce, which was recently disbanded with the death all every member besides her, covered in this this LA Times article. While unregistered, her powers have been reported as probability manipulation via song, where her serenading could curse or bless a person based on the tone of her music. Most recently seen fleeing from police after interrogation. The source of her abilities are unknown.

Pros: Specifically musically themed powers. Recent bad blood between her and CONDOR. Significant emotional trauma.

Cons: Has only ever publically acted as a hero. No precedent for power of the level required to accomplish something like this.

The Conductor (or at least, her baton): B class villain who inherited an enchanted baton from a relative (believed to have been carved from an abandoned sorcerer's staff some time in the 1800s) and was able to use it to control the actions of others via music that she conjured from thin air. The Conductor has been in jail for five years and there have been no reports of any escape attempts, but while her baton is believed to be in CONDOR custody it's possible it could have fallen into the hands of someone who liked showtunes more than she did.

Pros: The Conductor's enchanted baton would allow for this kind of effect, and any villain musically-inclined enough to have their eye on the object could easily be the kind of person who'd pull something like this just for the sake of it.

Cons: The baton was never documented as being used on a scale this large. Whoever was using it would have to have been using the baton ceaselessly since the effects started.

Duke of Earl: Monocle and cape wearing C class villain who uses assorted tech with a variety of effects, almost exclusively musical. Has in the past employed devices that emit as yet unexplained sound frequencies that cause people to dance or sing against their will, often encouraging them to enjoy it. Whether he builds the devices himself is unknown. The Duke often claims that 'nothing can stop him', but is frequently deterred from his heists and hold-ups by various heroes. On the other hand, he has never been arrested.

Pros: Enthusiastic about having other people participate in music against their will. Has in the past expressed desire for dominion over the whole of LA (his 'Dukedom'). Although he has never done anything this long-lasting or far-reaching, his tech is constantly being modified and improved.

Cons: Usually employs this sort of thing as a distraction in order to attempt to steal things – has not been reported at the scene of any of the robberies that have occurred since the singing started.

Atacca Pella: Five-strong a capella superhero group who stop supervillains by singing at them – targets of their singing invariably end up being unable to resist singing themselves. They have their own YouTube channel where they post songs and videos, although their identities remain secret. They are unregistered, but estimated as B rank as a group and D-C individually due to their unarmed combat skills. No individual codenames.

Pros: Have powers that cause others to sing, and sometimes to dance. Have exhibited attention-seeking tendencies which may override their general heroic inclinations.

Cons: Have never caused this effect without singing themselves, and have never generated background music (although they can do some very convincing beatboxing). Have gone on the record since the music swept LA saying they have nothing to do with this.

I'm guessing we can just use this as a plotting post? I'm guessing that. yeah. I'm also just going to use Starscream's account because I don't have account juggler on my work computer and I'm too lazy to log in w/ Neku

SSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOO Neku and Milly put their heads together, gonna sing "I've got a theory"

I'm guessing... Neku's first move would probably be to see if he can get a word in with the conductor, or at least condor, and find out if that baton is still accounted for. But I'm figuring we can just generally like have some brainstorming happen IC?

Also who else is getting in on this, I know teddy and billy might be involved from the start since that's how they're getting a list going, but Lyra was going to get on this too right?
